Bye Bye Easley..Hello Cora!

Yeah I’ know, he’s not Manny, but replacing Easley with Cora is definitely a good upgrade. I loved Mr. “Easley does it” but the guy’s getting old, 39 years old to be exact, and having someone like that as a backup infielder is not a good idea.

As for Cora, multiple sources are reporting the Mets have signed him to a one-year deal reported to be worth about $2 million.

I like this. Not only can he take over at 2nd base in case Castillo starts messing up again but he can take over at SS a few times to give Reyes a rest every once in a while.

Ideally, Cora will serve as first replacement for Jose Reyes at shortstop, which was filled, for the most part, by Damion Easley the past two seasons. But given Reyes’ preference to play every day and the Mets’ second-base situation, Cora might find himself on the right side of the infield more often.  –Mets.com
